EME (“Moonbounce”) Training Sessions held on July 6th at the shack

On Saturday mornings, on July 6, hands-on training was available for club members interested in learning the capabilities of our Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) station.

Attendees examined and asked questions about all the important equipment, both hardware and software. Some simple radio astronomy was done by pointing the 3 m dish at the Sun to measure solar radio noise and check antenna pointing.  Then the dish was pointed at the Moon, and “CQ W2ZQ FN20” was transmitted, and attendees proceeded to make EME contacts with stations throughout Europe and the Americas.

Earth-Moon-Earth EME Moonbounce communication is a very fascinating aspect of amateur radio so come join the fun and learn a little bit more about this ever-growing hobby.
