Using World-Wide Aeronautical Weather and HF Air Traffic Control for DXing

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 7:00PM, the Delaware Valley Radio Association’s monthly membership meeting will feature a presentation by Dave Doler K3DFD titled “Using World-Wide Aeronautical Weather and HF Air Traffic Control for DXing”.

This presentation talks about how Hams can take advantage of the world-wide network of always-on aeronautical VOLMET HF weather broadcast stations to help determine band conditions. They can also listen for aircraft flying over oceanic routes communicating with HF oceanic air traffic controllers to see if conditions might favor specific DX locations.

Dave Doler K3DFD has been an active Amateur since 1975 and a private pilot since 1980. He is currently the Dir. of Programs for the DVRA.
