DVRA SWAPFEST

DVRA will be hosting a Swapfest on Saturday, April 24th. The event will be held from 11 am to 2 am at the grounds of the W2ZQ station. Click here for directions. All club members are welcome to set up and sell their excess ham radio/electronics gear.

QRP Event at the Shack

The DVRA will be conducting a QRP operating event on the grounds of W2ZQ on Saturday, April 17th from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm.

Come out for a day of outdoor low-power operation with your fellow club members, as well as, some special outdoor and QRP-oriented demonstrations from our very own Glen Johnstone NK1N.

Robert Evans, N2LO will present “Smith Chart 98.6”. Robert was going to call it “Smith Chart 101”, but 101 exceeds present guidelines. So Smith Chart 98.6 it is. 🙂

The Smith chart, invented by Phillip H. Smith and independently by Mizuhashi Tosaku, is a graphical calculator or nomogram designed for electrical and electronics engineers specializing in radio frequency (RF) engineering to assist in solving problems with transmission lines and matching circuits.

Spring Clean Up and 40m Antenna Repair at W2ZQ

The Annual Spring Clean Up at Club Station W2ZQ will occur on Saturday April 10th . We will need many volunteers, as we will also be repairing the 40 meter beam.

The beam repair will start at 8AM.

Grounds and building cleanup will start at 9AM.

ANTENNA COMMITTEE CONSTRUCTION EVENT TO BE HELD MARCH 27TH

The DVRA antenna committee will be holding a construction event for members on Saturday, March 27th at 12 pm at the DVRA shack.

Participants will be able to construct any of the following items: a quarter wave 2 meter ground plane antenna, a 3-foot coax jumper, or a feed line window mount.

On Wednesday, February 10th 2021, the Delaware Valley Radio Association monthly meeting HELD VIA VIRTUAL WEB CONFERENCE will feature a presentation titled “New Sunspot Cycle 25 could be one of strongest on record, new research predicts” by Dr. Scott McIntosh.

Dr. Scott McIntosh and a team of scientists led by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) are predicting that the Sunspot Cycle 25 that started last fall could be one of the strongest since record-keeping began.
