DVRA Mobile Fox Hunt – April 15, 2023

It’s time to release the Fox!

DVRA will host its first Mobile Fox Hunting Session of 2023.  Join Huntmaster Glen, NK1N, for this event Saturday, April 15 at 9:00am ET (rescheduled from April 1 due to inclement weather).  Hunts are usually done by 12:00 noon.

Spring Cleanup and Outdoor Painting at W2ZQ

The Annual Spring Clean Up at Club Station W2ZQ will occur on Saturday, April 8th . We will also be repainting the trim on the outside of the building, and we’ll need 6-8 volunteers.

The work will start at 9AM.

All members are encouraged to participate.

DVRA Annual QRP and Mobile Operating Day, and Swap Fest, held on April 22nd

The Delaware Valley Radio Association hosted the 4th annual QRP operating day on the grounds of the club station, W2ZQ on April 22nd from 10am to 2pm.  This event was opened to all local amateurs.  As in the past, we also held a Swap Fest.  ADDITIONALLY, we included Mobile operating to be part of this year’s event.

Another Successful Fox Hunt/Antenna Workshop

DVRA conducted a Fox Hunt Training / Antenna Workshop / Mini-Fox Hunt session the morning of Saturday, March 25th.  Fifteen were in attendance for NK1N’s Introduction to Fox Hunting aka Amateur Radio Direction Finding.

The Trenton Computer Fest is looking for Ham Radio vendors

The Trenton Computer Fest is going in person this year for the first time since 2019.  There is a large indoor area for vendors and exhibitors.

There has always been a good representation of Ham Radio vendors at the Fest.  And, once again, Ham Radio vendors are being encouraged to participate.

March 11th – DMR Radio Setup and Accessing DMR via Hotspot

On Saturday, March 11th at 10am at the W2ZQ station, a seminar on DMR basics was held.

Digital Mode Seminar, February 25th

A Digital / Sound Card Mode seminar was held at the W2ZQ station on Saturday February 25th at 10AM.

The program started with an overview presentation of Digital / Sound Card Modes.  This was followed by a demonstration of setting up a radio, interface and computer with the necessary hardware and software from “scratch”.

The new DVRA online apparel store’s winter sale has concluded. In this latest sale, the original apparel was available again and cold weather items were added.  DVRA logos are embroidered on these clothing items by a local vendor. And for an optional $6 extra, personalization could be added.

SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS W2T / W2P

On December 26th through January 8th the DVRA again activated our annual W2T / W2P Special Event operation to commemorate the historic Battles of Trenton and Princeton. 

Amateur operators across the US — and some across the globe — made it a point to work both W2T and W2P for the opportunity to receive the QSL cards and to earn a certificate conferring a “Commission as a Lieutenant in the Continental Army Signal Corps”
