W2ZQ to enter 2023 ARRL EME Contest

The 50-1296 MHz sessions of the ARRL EME contest are held on two separate weekends: October 28th/29th and November 25/26th.  The contest starts on Friday night, the 27th at 8pm (local time) and ends Sunday night at 8pm.  The final weekend of the contest occurs November 25th/26th.

Another Fun & Successful W2ZQ POTA Event

After a string of several very rainy days, the morning of September 30th saw the sky stop dripping just in the nick of time, allowing W2ZQ to set up two portable stations atop the 400’ Bowman’s Hill on the Northern edge of Upper Makefield Township in Pennsylvania. JOTA Event held at DVRA Shack – Oct. 21st at 10am

The JOTA event was held at the DVRA shack on Saturday, October 21st from 10 – 3:00 pm. All Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and GSUSA members were welcomed to participate.

The DVRA W2ZQ radio station is on Route 579 directly across from the Ewing Township Water Tower at Exit 75 of I-295 (Driving Directions).

“WSJT-X Innards Explained” by Joe Taylor K1JT

On Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, the Delaware Valley Radio Association’s monthly membership meeting featured a presentation by Joe Taylor, K1JT titled “WSJT-X Innards Explained”.

Joe Taylor was first licensed as KN2ITP in 1954, and has since held call signs K2ITP, WA1LXQ, W1HFV, VK2BJX and K1JT. He was Professor of Astronomy at the University of Massachusetts from 1969 to 1980 and Professor of Physics at Princeton University since 1981,

DVRA awarded Grant from Amateur Radio Digital Communications

The Delaware Valley Radio Association (DVRA) is happy to announce that it has been awarded a grant from Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC), a private foundation that supports and promotes amateur radio. The grant will allow DVRA to install a large 15-ft. (4.57 meter) dish antenna at its W2ZQ station.

DVRA Antenna Committee Event – Field Day Antenna Construction held at DVRA

The DVRA antenna committee held an antenna workshop and construction event for members on Saturday, May 6th at 12 Noon at the DVRA

During this event Greg Mauro K3EA (k3ea.dx@gmail.com) discussed the design and then led the building, tuning and testing of a 10/15m coupled-resonator dipole to supplement our field day antennas.
